The episode begins with a nervous and cautious Rachel who is getting
ready for the biggest moment of her life, NYADA auditions. She has picked Don’t
rain on my parade for her audition, she wants to play safe. The other NYADA
applicant, Kurt, is having problems picking the perfect song he between a safe
choice the song Music of the night or
an original but risky song Not the boy
next door. Rachel advises him to pick the safe choice. Carmen Tibideaux
(Whoopi Goldberg) the dean of NYADA is the judged of the auditions. At the last
moment in order to impress Tibideaux, he decides to sing another song and he do
and amazing performance of Not the boy next door.
At the big moment Kurt is perfect, he sing a risky song but like he says
“it much more like him”. Tibideaux congratulates him for such a good
performance and practically gives Kurt his ticket to NYADA.
Rachel goes next. Unfortunately her audition is a disaster, she choked
on her performance. This is a really shocking and sad scene, everyone was sure
that Rachel will nail that song but life
isn’t as fair as we think and Rachel
forgets the words. As Lea Michele said in an interview: “choke is the fear
which every actor lives with, it doesn’t matter if you had performed that song
a thousand times, these things happens”. After that Rachel sings Cry. It’s such a heartbroken
scene in which we can see Rachel’s pain; it’s so sad but Lea Michele has this
incredible voice that left me speechless.
Another big storyline of the episode is Puck’s. He sees his father again
after five years. Puck’s father is back in town to borrow his son some money
and Puck let him part of the money he has save for his pool business because he
doesn’t want to see his father again. But Puck has another problem he doesn’t
think he will graduate and he thinks school isn't for him so he sings School's out.
Finn and the rest of the glee boys help Puck to study
so he can pass the geography test he needs to graduate. They stay up all night
and the sing The rain in Spain. Next
day Puck takes the test but he fails it. What does it mean? Isn’t Puck
graduating? I don’t think so.
Coach Beiste shows up with a bruise on her eye and Santana makes a funny
comment of it and the rest of the glee girls laugh of it. Coach Roz Washington
and Sue try to teach the girl that abuse isn’t a joke and they ask the girls to
perform a song about this topic. Santana, Mercedes, Tina, Brittany and Sugar
perform Cell block tango, such an amazing performance everyone looks sexy but
they cut Sugar’s part which I think it’s a bad idea.
This song isn’t the right
song for this situation but finally coach Beiste tells that it was her husband
who hits her. Coach Washington and Sue encourage her to leave him and at the
end of the episode coach Beiste moves out with her sister. Then she tells the
truth to the glee girls and they sing Shake it out, a beautiful and moving song
to show coach Beiste their support. Santana, Mercedes and Tina are incredible
amazing at this song, they totally nail it, even better than in Cell block
tango.
This week episode was so sad I really hate see Rachel like this, it
sucks. It looks like Rachel won’t get into NYADA, does it mean her New York
dreams are over?
